MARÍA DE DUEÑAS LÓPEZ

 

María de Dueñas López (25.03.1984) is a dancer, maker and teacher. Education: SEAD, Royal Conservatoire of Dance Madrid, and Victor Ullate Dance School (Community of Madrid Ballet), and a social education graduate from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She recently graduates in MA in “Performing Arts and Visual Culture” at Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and UCLM 2017.

She works at the moment with Tabea Martin Company (CH/Tanz Haus Zürich), and with Kubilai Khan Investigations (FR). In parallel she works with her duo “Betwixt” , an intercultural collaboration with Israeli artists and organizations, to be premier in March at Hare Festival Kelim.

 

During 2015-2014 she has been engaged in two research-projects in the MA program of Dance Dissemination at the Hochschule für Music und Tanz Köln, as a guest artist. She collaborated with Matias Daporta in Knock Down, Het Veem Theater Amsterdam production and Life Long Burning (LLB). 

 

In 2014 she has co-created and performed with "inability crew" "space-time on tour" at the Performa/Platforma Festival 2014, Maribor; and with Sayaka Akitsu in "Blind Piece" in the P.A.R.T.S. Summer Studio.

 

Her 2014/13 co-author credits include ”I See the Problem, Not the Solution" which obtained two awards at the 28º Choreographic Contest 2014 in Madrid), "Betwixt" (DG Collective) selected for Biennale Gibanica (Slovenia) and "White Shadow Series" (dance film, together with Berlin collective MJM).

Prior to that, she has worked in Spain with Xsiacaso Dance Company (received 2nd Award at the Alcala de Henares Choreographic Contest).
